I’m going to add a small section ‘Quotes’ to my web site.  It will be quotes that I read or hear; that I learn from, or inspire me or motivate me.   No regular schedule for updating this page, just when the urge hits.

Patti LaBelle

"The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention"

"Let the future say of our generation that we  sent forth mighty currents of hope,

and that we worked together to heal the world."

Jeffery D. Sachs in The End of Poverty for a link to this great site, click here: www.earth.columbia.edu/pages/endofpoverty/index

Orphan Child:

"I don't wish to be everything to everybody,

I just wish to be someone special to somebody"

Author 'Unknown':

"Nothing that we do today can change history,

everything that we do today can change the future."

From Nelson Mandela on the occasion of his 90th birthday, celebrated in London, June 2008:

"It is now in your hands to lift the burden of human suffering."

My first quote from the Private Eye ‘Vincent Calvino’ in a book called  The Big Weird.  It is written by Christopher G. Moore.  He is a Canadian ex-pat living in Bangkok.  He offers many great quotes, sometimes one on every page, this one is my favorite:

“The problem with assumptions was the tendency to assume either too much or too little.”

You can learn more about Christopher G. Moore at www.cgmoore.com You can also download a free e-book from his site.

Matt Lauer quoting his friend and mentor Tim Russert, as Tim would say to Matt before big projects or monumental turning points in Matt’s life:

  “Ok, Pal.  Go get em!”

Tim Russert gets two this week, because this one is so beautiful:

“ The best exercise for the human heart is to bend down and lift someone up.”

 Tim Russert  1950-2008 RIP
